PLA Biodegradable Packaging Film

PLA is a new type of biodegradable material with good biocompatibility. Its biodegradability is comparable to that of plastics. It has strong environmental adaptability in nature and low cost.

The production process of PLA packaging film is divided into two types:

(1) Melting method: It means that polylactic acid is made into polyester film by melting method, and then the polyester film is cooled and cut into required specifications, and then blow molded. The cost of this process is relatively high.

(2) Direct method: refers to the direct production of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyester film and other products using polylactic acid as raw material. The cost is low and the product quality can be guaranteed.

PLA has the advantages of biodegradability, recyclability, non-toxic and harmless, etc. With the application of PLA materials in the field of biomedicine is becoming more and more extensive and in-depth, people are paying more and more attention to PLA materials. Traditional plastic packaging products will cause environmental pollution problems during production, transportation and use, and biodegradable plastic packaging products are one of the effective ways to solve this problem.

PLA can be applied in the field of packaging:

1. Packaging film: used for packaging food, medicine, beverage and other commodities;

2. Shopping bags: used to replace plastic bags, which can reduce environmental pollution and facilitate life;

3. Adhesive tape: used to replace traditional paper adhesive tape;

4. Packaging products such as woven bags: Since their raw materials can be 100% recycled and will not cause environmental pollution, they are currently a good choice to replace traditional plastic products. Woven bags of various colors can also be produced according to customer requirements;

5. Express bags: During express transportation, it can also reduce environmental pollution, and at the same time protect the transported items.

6. Membrane: It can be used to package cosmetics, food and medicines, and has no pollution to the environment;

7. Adhesive tape: mainly used on packaging bags or woven bags, which can play a protective role.

The role and advantages of PLA biodegradable packaging film:

1. Good biodegradability: can be biodegraded into carbon dioxide and water. PLA can be degraded by the action of microorganisms. Microorganisms are mainly bacteria and fungi (such as Penicillium, Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus niger). When microorganisms enter the environment, they destroy the original cellular structure and physiological processes in the environment. So PLA has good biodegradability.

2. Excellent mechanical properties: PLA has high strength (single filament strength greater than 6000N/m) and high modulus (tensile strength 25 MPa, elongation 300%).
